Artissima 2015 Elena Kovylina 125 grammi

During Artissima, on November 6, 2015 h8,30 pm, Videoinsight® Foundation at Videoinsight® Center in Turin, via Bonsignore 7, will present to the audience a solo exhibition dedicated to Elena Kovylina, one of the brightest russian artists of the new generation, internationally well known performer and pupil of Rebecca Horn. The artist, who lives and works in Moscow, will be present and realize the performance entitled ‘125 grammi’. On this occasion will be shown the video ‘Egalite’ made in St. Petersburg during the performance realized in front of the Hermitage for Manifesta 10 in May 2014. The exhibition will include the following video works: ‘New Woman’ (2012),’Embedded souls of Russia’ (2012), ‘Ze Zarya’ (2010), ‘Carriage’ (2009), ‘Dying Swans’ (2008), ‘Boxing’ (2008), ‘Shooting- Gallery’ (2002). Elena Kovylina, born in 1971, studied at the Art School, the Art Academy and the Contemporary Art Center in Moscow and at the Art and Media School in Zurich. She graduated at the UDK Berlin in the class of Rebecca Horn. She received several awards and achieved many international residencies. Her works are in prestigious collections including the Videoinsight® Collection. She has chosen the performance as her privileged way of artistic expression. She became a star and teacher of the performative russian art. In her work the social criticism is combined with primary, universal and urgent psychological messages.
